Love Someone Lyrics

[Verse 1]
There are days
I wake up and I pinch myself
You're with me, not someone else

And I'm scared, yeah, I'm still scared
That it's all a dream

[Pre-Chorus]
'Cause you still look perfect as days go by
Even the worst ones, you make me smile

I'd stop the world if it gave us time

[Chorus]
'Cause when you love someone
You open up your heart
When you love someone
You make room

If you love someone
And you're not afraid to lose 'em
You probably never loved someone like I do
You probably never loved someone like I do

[Verse 2]
When you say
You love the way I make you feel
Everything becomes so real
Don't be scared, no, don't be scared
'Cause you're all I need

[Pre-Chorus]
And you still look perfect as days go by
Even the worst ones, you make me smile

I'd stop the world if it gave us time

[Chorus]
'Cause when you love someone
You open up your heart
When you love someone
You make room

If you love someone
And you're not afraid to lose 'em
You probably never loved someone like I do
You probably never loved someone like I do

[Bridge]
All my life
I thought it'd be hard to find
The one, 'til I found you

And I find it bittersweet
'Cause you gave me something to lose

[Chorus]
But when you love someone
You open up your heart
When you love someone
You make room

If you love someone
And you're not afraid to lose 'em
You probably never loved someone like I do
You probably never loved someone like I do
You probably never loved someone like I do

About “Love Someone”

“Love Someone” was released as the lead single for
3 (The Purple Album).

The song is an electric guitar-driven ballad written to lead singer, Lukas' girlfriend, Rillo.

Lukas Graham played the song as a piano ballad during their summer tour and on the 3rd of September, they confirmed a single was coming on Friday the 7th in a tweet.

  • How did "Love Someone" come about?

    Lukas Graham:

It’s Rissi Rissi on the piano, and it’s Don Stefano and myself vibing, and good old Germ. We wrote the hook in Copenhagen, back home. We couldn’t really get any more, besides just the hook. Then we started up a creative time over in L.A.. got a very, very good guy in, James Allen, to help top line some of it. He helped come up with some words for the first verse and the pre-, and then we were still stuck. We needed the second verse, we needed the bridge. Me and Stefan just kept working and working and working until we got it.
Then I mean, mindset wise it was Germ who flipped the chorus, so it suddenly was like, whoa. “If you love someone and you’re not afraid of losing them, you’ve never loved someone like I do.” That’s also what made it hard to finish the song, because it’s like, how do you write a cliché style love song with clichés but without clichés?

  • What doest the song mean to you?

    Lukas Graham:

For me, where the song comes from, the words that I at least tried to put into it had something to do with after I got my daughter, I realized: I can lose this. I can lose my spouse, I can lose my kid if I’m a bad father. I can lose my spouse if I’m a bad husband. I can lose my family if I’m a jerk. That’s always the case, but I hadn’t looked at it like that before. I hadn’t thought that I could lose my family. It was a very humbling thought, and it is really that. It is that dream scenario where you suddenly realize, she could have chosen so many other douche bags but she chose this douche bag, right? I always thought parents that came and talked about this newfound love, I always thought them to be stupid people. I realized, no, that’s how it feels. It’s really hard to explain it until you’re there, and it’s also a little bit annoying because now I’m that dad to tell everyone, “Oh, it’s so great to become a father.” So I try not to tell anyone that unless they ask me.

  • What was your wife's reaction when you played her the track?

    Lukas Graham:

I remember after recording it, it was like we had a house that had a studio in a side house, so when I had cut a demo of it and I brought the missus over to hear it, she wept a little bit. Which was a great success for me. She was like, “Is that how you feel?” I was like, “Yeah. On occasion.” Because the song is, it’s a feeling you take out of your life. It’s not the love song, it’s not how you feel always when you’re in love. Like, we talked about that in terms of your own family, but sometimes you hear music that hits you and you’re like, “Wow. That is how I feel.” I enjoy performing this song live, because I’m reminded of what I have when I’m performing live. I’m reminded I have something to come home to, something to work to not lose.
