Anderson .Paak Links Up With Dr. Dre On His Latest ‘Oxnard’ Single “Who R U?”

His Aftermath debut arrives in one week.

Anderson .Paak’s latest album, Oxnard, drops next Friday, November 16. Today, the California native released the latest single, “Who R U?” The marching track is co-produced by Watts native Mell and Dr. Dre, who also serves as the project’s executive producer.

On the song, .Paak describes his growing frustration with haters:

New enemies they bringing my old ways back
Back in my day, woulda had your whole face smacked
Look at you niggas, wonder why I fucking hate rap
Oh, what make you wanna go say that?
And I’m on another wave

Later on, he makes a reference to police brutality:

World peace, niggas talk about “Don’t shoot!”
Tell that to police

Oxnard is named after .Paak’s hometown in California, and marks his first project on Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment. .Paak signed with the label after working extensively on Dre’s 2015 album, Compton.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, .Paak explained that the project is “the album I dreamed of making in high school, when I was listening to [Jay-Z]’s The Blueprint, The Game’s The Documentary, and [Kanye West’s] The College Dropout.”

For his previous single, .Paak reunited with Kendrick Lamar on “Tints.” Other guest on Oxnard include Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Q-Tip, J. Cole, and Pusha-T.
